| Etiquette Suggestion: Sometimes, guests are overwhelmed when they sit down at a venue and see many pieces of silverware before them. If you are going to a wedding or party, here is a place setting. Your plates are in front of you. Your glasses are to the right of you. The small dish to your left is for your roll and butter. Break a small piece of bread off and butter it. Then eat it. Continue this way until the roll is finished. The small fork and spoon at the top of the place setting are for dessert. The small fork to the left of the place setting is for the first course. When finished, leave the fork on the dish. The waiter will take it away. The larger fork is for the rest of the meal. The spoon on the right of the place setting is for soup (if you are having soup). The knife is also on the right side of the place setting. See the picture. Remember to place your napkin on your lap at the start of the meal. |
